Local NW Business Owner Takes out Global Award!

Over the weekend (Friday 18th May to Sunday 20th May 2012) The Alliance for Virtual Business held its Annual Online International Virtual Assistant Convention. With its multi-level course offerings, the convention is designed to help Virtual Assistants learn to navigate the pressures and complexities that come with creating and maintaining a virtual business.

This year’s convention challenged participants to think more strategically to implement change by addressing three core principles of business growth and development... Innovate, Integrate, Motivate. A big part of the Online Convention was to celebrate the Annual International Virtual Assistant’s Day which was held on 15th of May 2012. In celebrating this event, two Awards are given out to two very special virtual assistants who have shown their contribution, dedication and determination to the virtual assistant industry as well as prizes for other Virtual Assistants who attend the event.

The Prestigious Janet Jordan Achievement Award is given to honor a newcomer to the Virtual Assistant industry who has been in business for less than 5 years and has reached a milestone in their business. This milestone should represent an accomplishment that has helped boost their new business toward being an overwhelming success. This year the winner of this award was local Kununurra business woman Renee Chapman, who runs her business, The Admin Chick, which specialises in virtual assistant services performed at her own location, Renee is also the founder of the first ever Industry publication for virtual businesses in Australia, Today’s VA! Magazine.

The Thomas Leonard Virtual Assistant of Distinction is to honor a Virtual Assistant who has been in business for at least 5 years and who has contributed to the industry in such a way that s/he has provided a positive impact on many others and helped them to build a successful business. If they have led a VA organization or activity; written a book or other publication specifically to help other VAs; or any other impact that has helped the industry grow. This was taken out by Janice Byers from the USA.
